Connecting Sabre-R to your amplifier

This answer applies to:

  • Sabre-R

Before you connect your speakers, ensure all your equipment is turned OFF. Your Sabre-R speakers have two linked pairs of terminals on the back. For conventional single-wire connection, the terminal links should remain in place and just one pair of terminals connected to the amplifier. For bi-wire connection or bi-amplification, the terminal links should be removed and each pair of terminals connected to the amplifier or amplifiers independently. Cables to each speaker should be the same type and length and for best performance, we recommend either 4mm banana plugs or spade terminals although bare wires up to 4mm diameter can also be used. Correct polarity is vital, so ensure the red (+) terminals on the amplifier are connected to the red (+) terminals on the speakers and the black (–) terminals to the black (–) terminals. Incorrect polarity will result in poor bass performance and incoherent stereo imaging. Always screw the terminal caps down fully to prevent rattles.
