Showcasing English craftsmanship at its best
Our MiE project focuses on limited production bespoke hand-built products using traditional practices, with quality that can only be achieved through time and a meticulous approach to manufacture.
our MiE project embraces meticulous, time unrestricted making—allowing us to create exceptional home-grown products once again
From 1986, all our early hi-fi speakers were manufactured in the UK, but by the early 2000s growing challenges made this difficult to sustain. In 2004 we began developing our compact audio range, launching the R1 radio in 2006—still fully designed and engineered in the UK, but for the first time now produced overseas. With UK manufacturing impacted by years of underinvestment, in Asia we found the skilled and advanced production techniques we required.
Despite this, we have always felt a strong desire to bring some level of production back home. Across the UK, talented craftspeople continue to create beautiful, low volume work through hands on craftsmanship. While large scale manufacturing is not yet viable, our MiE project embraces meticulous, time unrestricted making—allowing us to create exceptional home-grown products once again.
R810 MiE, showcases the centuries-old art of marquetry. The beautiful patterns are designed to reflect modern life while honouring traditional artisan techniques and like a fingerprint, each is totally unique.
