We, Ruark Audio (then known as Ruark Acoustics) came from very humble beginnings with a small unit on a private industrial estate in Rayleigh, Essex. Measuring at roughly only 300 square foot, it’s amazing how many hours were spent in that little workshop developing and manufacturing our first loudspeaker systems, from 1985 to 1996.
When 1996 came around we decided it was time to put down our roots in a bigger location by purchasing a unit in Southend on Sea, which is the Ruark HQ we know and love today – albeit a bit different these days.
After seeing consistent year on year growth and a rise in demand for global exports, we decided it was the right time to give our headquarters a revamp. By acquiring the unit next door we’ve now doubled our warehousing capacity and created exciting new spaces for the team to work from. We owe a lot to that tiny little 300 square foot unit in Rayleigh, as without starting there we wouldn’t be where we are now – in our roughly 20,000 square foot headquarters in Southend.

Much like our smart, stylish product portfolio, our new-and-improved offices offer a sleek, clean design to help enhance operations and promote a creative working environment. One of our favourite new areas is the listening room, where we can test and fine-tune our signature sound.
Elsewhere, the new in-house photography studio is the perfect spot for the creative team to capture cutting-edge content of our products. We’re looking to build up a whole host of fresh visuals, among which users can expect an updated suite of ‘how-to’ videos, all produced and executed on-site.
Finally, the expansion of our warehouse serves as a reflection of the fantastic progress we’ve made over the past few years. Accommodating such growth is not an easy task, but one we are proud to be tackling through the doubling of our warehouse space.
Our founder, Alan O’Rourke, says “During such unprecedented times we are delighted to be investing so heavily in our headquarters. Ruark Audio has been based here for almost forty years, so making sure our UK team have the finest equipment and support is a priority for us.”
“Despite difficult ongoing circumstances, the past few years have been very successful for Ruark. The new facilities will enable us to continue to develop exceptional products, which are widely recognised as the best available and are the cornerstone of our business.”
