The radios, celebrated for their rich sound quality, have been installed throughout the centre to help create a calming and supportive environment for both patients and staff.
Our managing director, Alan O’Rourke, explained the inspiration behind the donation:
“When Chris Harris – a long-time hi-fi friend and a cancer survivor treated at Ipswich Hospital – reached out to ask if we’d consider donating some of our products to the Woolverstone Centre, we didn’t hesitate.
Our love for design and sound runs deep, and we truly believe that music and radio can be powerful sources of comfort and healing.”
The initiative was made possible through the Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals Charity, which works closely with local communities to enhance patient care.
Gavin Lamb, corporate and trusts fundraising manager at the charity, said:
“We are incredibly thankful to Ruark Audio for this generous gift. The radios will help bring moments of peace and joy to patients in the Woolverstone Centre. It’s a wonderful example of the power of partnerships between local charities and businesses, and the ongoing importance of community involvement in enhancing patient care.”
Research has long shown that music can reduce anxiety and promote wellbeing—benefits that are especially valuable in clinical settings. At Ipswich Hospital, our radios will complement the incredible work already being done by Hospital Radio Ipswich, which provides music and entertainment to patients across the hospital.
We’re honoured to play a small part in supporting the Woolverstone Centre and the patients it serves. For us, this donation is more than just about radios—it’s about helping create moments of comfort, connection, and hope.
