How do I set a ‘friendly’ name for my Ruark?

This answer applies to:

  • R2 Mk3
  • R3 Mk1
  • MRx Mk1
  • R5 Mk1
  • R7 Mk3

Our network connected products allow you to change and set a ‘friendly’ name such as R7 Living Room, R5 Dining Room, R3 Kitchen etc, so they are easy to identify on your wireless network and the easiest way to do this is to install our UNDOK app. With the app installed open the app and then select your Ruark product on the UNDOK home-screen. This then takes you to the device screen where depending on the source, you can see what’s playing, select radio stations and save pre-sets etc but by tapping the cog symbol in the top right-hand corner, this opens the settings screen for your product. To rename, simply tap the rename button and then change the name to one of your choice up to 32 characters long and then tap the done button to save and close.

Alternatively, the device name can be changed by using a computer and then entering the devices IP Address into the search bar of your browser. To find your devices IP Address, press the MENU button on the RotoDial, then scroll and select SYSTEM and then NETWORK and finally VIEW SETTINGS. From here you should scroll through the information until you see IP ADDRESS and then make a note of the address, which will be something like 192.168.45.??. Enter these numbers with full stops into your browser and this will open a device page for your product where you can view information and also change your devices name as required.
