Poor FM reception.

This answer applies to R1 Mk3 R2 Mk3 R4 Mk3 R7 Mk3

From new our products will only scan for strong FM stations, so when the scan buttons are pushed they will automatically scan to the next available strong station. If you live in an area with good FM coverage then this setting should work fine, but if your FM reception is marginal, it is likely that some stations will be missed. If you think this is the case then please try changing the Scan Setting from strong stations only (YES) to (No). This option is found by pressing the MENU button on the RotoDial control and then selecting ‘Scan Setting’. With ‘No’ selected it is important that you know the frequency of the station you are wanting to receive as you will manually need to tune to this frequency.

Of utmost importance you should always ensure that the supplied aerial has been correctly fitted and fully extended for optimum reception. If this is not the case, then your reception quality will suffer. Also depending on your distance from transmitters and the construction of your home (particularly those with thick walls and steel/glass construction) then you may find that signal strength is insufficient to provide clear and reliable playback and on FM you will hear excessive background hiss.

Like TVs, radios require a good quality signal to work properly. In most cases, the supplied aerial provides adequate reception, but if both your DAB and FM reception is poor we would highly recommend you consider the fitting of an external aerial. Even in good areas an external aerial will guarantee optimum performance and will also allow you access to stations which are out of range for an internal aerial.
