I am experiencing poor DAB reception. What can I do?

Firstly we recommend that you this postcode checker to see which DAB stations you should be able to receive.

Depending on your distance from transmitters or if your home surrounded by buildings (particularly those constructed from steel and glass) then you may find that signal strength is insufficient to provide clear and reliable playback. On DAB this will result in burbling and break up of the sound.

Of utmost importance you should always use an aerial for both DAB and FM reception. If you are using the supplied telescopic or wire aerial then you should ensure that this has been correctly fitted and fully extended for optimum reception. If this is not the case, then your reception quality will suffer and also it is likely that some stations will not have been detected during the initial DAB scan. To correct this a new AutoScan or System Reset should be performed with the aerial fitted and extended as instructed.

Like TVs, radios require a good quality signal to work properly. In most cases, the supplied aerial provides adequate reception, but if your radio reception is poor you should consider the fitting of an external aerial for best reception quality. Even in good areas an external aerial will guarantee optimum performance and will also allow you access to stations which are out of range for an internal aerial.
