This answer applies to R2i Mk2
R2i will charge and control all iPhone models, but as it is ‘Made for iPod’ compliant (rather than iPhone compliant) you may hear mobile phone interference when ‘flight mode’ is not selected. It is worth noting that this interference usually only occurs when your iPhone is not receiving a 3G/4G signal and is in regular GSM or EDGE mode. With a good 3G/4G signal interference between iPhone models and R2i will be negligible.
To use iPhone models with Lightning connector you will need a 30 pin to Lightning adaptor. If using this adaptor we recommend that a support such as the Proporta 30-Pin to Lightning Dock Support is also used in order to avoid strain and possible breakage of the 30 pin dock connecter in R2i.
TIP: A seldom known fact is that when in flight mode it is possible to turn Wi-Fi back on through the Settings menu so streaming functions such as Internet Radio will work unhindered.
