How do I connect to R1 by Bluetooth?

This answer applies to:

  • R1 Mk4

To connect or pair a smartphone or other Bluetooth devices with R1 Mk4, firstly you must select Bluetooth as the source. From new R1 will automatically enter pairing mode, the blue LED on the RotoDial will flash and the display will show ‘Awaiting connection…’. At this point, you should enter the Bluetooth settings on the device you want to connect and then after a few moments you should see ‘Ruark R1’ displayed as a device you can connect to. Once selected, the pairing procedure can take a few moments, but once paired you should see ‘Connected’ alongside ‘Ruark R1’ on your device and you should also see your devices name, displayed on the screen of R1. From this point, any music you play on your device will be streamed and played back through R1. If it does not, check again the Bluetooth settings on your device to ensure that it is definitely paired with R1 and that R1 is selected as the playback device.

To connect a different device, select MENU > Connect device and then either select New or rotate the CONTROL KNOB to select one of the devices in the pairing list. You can pair up to 8 devices, although you will only be able to play audio from one device at a time.

If you are having trouble connecting your Bluetooth device, we recommend you clear all pairing information. To do this, select MENU > Forget devices. You will also need to delete any references to R1 from the list on your Bluetooth device before pairing it to R1 again.
