As independent reviews have shown, our award winning MR1 Bluetooth speakers provide remarkable sound in multiple applications. Improved for 2017, MR1 Mk2 retains all the attributes of the original, but with a fresh new look and updates to sound and connectivity, they are now better than ever!
Featuring a high-quality aptX Bluetooth receiver, digital and analogue inputs allied to a Class A-B amplifier and our own custom designed crossover and drive units, MR1 Mk2 are compact high fidelity speakers capable of remarkable sound. Perfect as computer speakers, ideal to use with a turntable and a fantastic way to improve the sound of your TV, MR1 Mk2 has been designed to fill your life and home with quality sound without dominating it. Perfect for design conscious customers…
Alone, MR1 can be the foundation of a complete music system. Add a turntable and you can be part of the vinyl revival and with a high quality aptX Bluetooth receiver built-in, you can also stream and play your music wirelessly to MR1 from compatible devices with CD quality sound.
Our tweeter and bass units for MR1 have been designed specifically to ensure optimum performance from its compact dimensions, with both featuring powerful neodymium magnet systems. This type of magnet allows greater magnetic concentration, for better driver control, in a lightweight and fully shielded system.
MR1 Mk2 features a Class A-B linear amplifier with a quality switch mode power supply. Linear amplifiers are used in the world’s best audio equipment and in our opinion offer superior performance when compared to new style digital amplifiers, which often sound forced and artificial in comparison. Linear amplification is one reason why MR1 sounds so good.
MR1 Mk2 features a control system which like our other products is easy to use, allowing the source and volume to be quickly changed as required. In addition, source, volume and functions can also be set and operated from the comfort of a chair with the supplied compact remote control.
With auto-standby built in, MR1 will automatically enter sleep mode after a short period of time if no signal is detected. This feature is particularly useful when using MR1 as a sound system with your TV as they will automatically wake and sleep as and when the TV is turned on and off.
MR1 Mk2 features both analogue and optical digital inputs allowing auxiliary devices to be easily connected. In particular, the optical input is ideal for connecting streaming devices such as Google Chromecast and it also provides the perfect connection point for most flat screen TV’s. MR1 also features a subwoofer output allowing an active subwoofer to be connected for extra dynamics in music and awesome movie sound.
Bluetooth’s ease of use has made it the foremost method for wireless audio streaming, working with virtually all devices and leading music applications such as Spotify and Apple Music. MR1 Mk2 with its high quality aptX Bluetooth receiver allows you to enjoy this technology at its very best with CD quality sound.
MR1 is a high fidelity speaker miniaturised and like larger high fidelity systems, its internal crossover plays a vital role in making it sound so good! Many compact speakers use a basic single component crossover for cost and ease of assemble, but for MR1 we’ve designed a multi component network using quality audio grade components throughout.
MR1 Mk3 features an attractive fixed grille clad in a unique British milled fabric from Camira. This timeless and resilient material, was one of just a few that met our requirement for both its attractive contemporary look and excellent acoustic properties.
As a pair MR1 sounds amazing, but to make them extra portable if the stereo speaker is disconnected then the master unit switches to mono operation. As a single unit MR1 is ideal for taking on holiday so you can enjoy great sound whilst you’re away from home. Add our optional power pack (BackPack) and you can also enjoy MR1 further afield completely free of a mains connection.
BackPack II transforms MR1 Mk2 into a fully portable product! It frees these marvels from the mains power socket so they can be used in the great outdoors or anywhere where mains power is not directly available. Placing batteries inside takes valuable speaker capacity which can result in unrefined sound, so BackPack II allows MR1 to retain their rich mains powered performance, but with complete portability.
A total evolution of the original, BackPack II attaches seamlessly to MR1 and once fitted can be left permanently in place as it charges automatically whenever the music systems are connected to a mains power supply. A full charge will provide up to twelve hours of mains free listening depending on volume.

Most Bluetooth speakers don’t offer a true stereo speaker setup but if that’s what you’re after then Ruark is on hand. The MR1 speakers will go nicely with a PC, laptop or just as a pair of bookshelf speakers to use with a phone or tablet.
Ruark’s MR1 speaker system is among the best yet. Cased in walnut and straddling the delicate line between ‘retro’ and ‘downright boring’, it looks like a mini hi-fi system minus the ‘system’ part - but in case you’re in any doubt, this is ‘serious’ hi-fi.
Ruark’s second gen Bluetooth bookshelf speakers look stunning and have the audio performance to match, belying their miniature size.
This is one set of versatile speakers you need in your life.
This pair of small, sleekly designed speakers sound brilliant and look like something that may pop out of a control board on Buck Rogers. They win in a game of chicken with Q’s eardrums and the riff-heavy bite of Arctic Monkeys ‘Do I Wanna Know?’ has a roar when channelled through them… Quite stunning.
Just in case you haven’t twigged we’re smitten with the MR1. Even its price tag seems eminently sensible when you’re rewarded with sound quality as good as this.
The step up in performance in impressive, and the Ruark MR1 Mk2s manage to be even more appealing than before. Quite simply, these are superb speakers of their type.
The upgrades that Ruark has made to an already impressive Bluetooth speaker system have brought it damn near to perfection. Very classy indeed.
We’ve a lot of love here for Ruark Audio radios – and it seems their speaker systems are just as wonderful as shown by the MR1 speaker system.
The only speaker in this group we could listen to for extended periods is the Ruark Audio MR1. This classic-looking two-way speaker has refinement and class writ large across its smooth, wholesome sound. It won’t play at party volumes, but in its comfort zone it can remind you what small-scale realistic music is all about.

I’m a Classical Musician with a musician’s ear not an engineer’s. To me these speakers are delightful and certainly sound alive.
This is such an awesome sounding piece of kit and deserves to be at the heart of an audio visual set up. Thank you for my many hours of exquisite listening. Always had the most amazing service and support. Reputation is everything. Please maintain your high standards.
This is my second Ruark product. You manage to get both form and function right every time!
I would also like to say how beautifully packaged the speakers were. Only had them a day but the sound exceeding my expectations. You should be congratulated in crafting such a high quality product … Well done.
I was sceptical about buying a Bluetooth system, but these little boxes have just blown me away. Sound quality is amazing for such a small unit. Perfect little space speakers and having previously owned some serious HiFi kit, these are up there with the best.
I am delighted with the speakers, which are just wonderful. The build quality, beautiful retro look, and, especially, crystalline and natural sound, of your speakers are tremendous. And finally, the depth and naturalness of the bass, from such comparatively tiny enclosures, are just incredible.
Let me tell you that I kept listening for two hours, in amazement! The sound quality emanating from such small speakers, is barely believable… Not only can you hear clearly treble and mids, but the bass extension is astonishing for such a small diameter of speaker
I needed powered speakers that were small enough to fit into a limited space and the MR1s came highly recommended with not a single bad review. The sound and power is more than enough to fill a room.
